Batuhan Ayci
I am a postdoctoral fellow in the Department of Neurology at the Icahn School of Medicine at Mount Sinai, where I work in Beck's Lab with Erin Beck, MD, PhD. My research focuses on multiple sclerosis, neuroimmunology, and advanced MRI markers of inflammatory demyelinating disease.
My current work uses 3T and 7T MRI to study cortical lesions, paramagnetic rim lesions, volumetrics, quantitative MRI metrics, and the natural history of radiologically isolated syndrome. I also collaborate on deep learning approaches for MS lesion segmentation and cortical lesion detection.
I received my MD with high honor from Istanbul University-Cerrahpasa in 2024. Before joining Mount Sinai, I worked across neurology, neuroimmunology, and biomedical engineering settings in Turkey, Switzerland, and the United States.

Research Interests
My research interests are centered on clinical neuroimmunology and imaging biomarkers in multiple sclerosis. Specific areas include cortical demyelination, paramagnetic rim lesions, radiologically isolated syndrome, quantitative MRI, high-field MRI, automated lesion segmentation, and clinically meaningful computational imaging.
